The first Elmira Maple Syrup Festival was celebrated in April of 1965, with an anticipated crowd of 2,500 people, but over 10,000 attendees surprised organizers and locals that day.

In 2000, it was recognized as the World’s Largest Single Day Maple Syrup Festival in the Guinness Book of World records with 66,529 people in attendance. At the close of the 2015 festival, total money raised for charities surpassed $1.5 million.

There is so much to do and explore: venturing through the sugar bush to see the maple syrup preparation, indulging in pancakes and the infamous maple syrup, taking one of three round trip train rides from Elmira to St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market, enjoying free live performances, testing pancake flipping skills in a friendly contest, or simply browsing the half-mile long outdoor mall.

The festival marks the beginning of spring! Experience a literal taste of the rural life at the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival.
